Week One - Thursday

The Gospel
Luke 21:25-28, 34-36
Ora / Pray
Jesus said to his disciples:
“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay,
perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
People will die of fright
in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
But when these signs begin to happen,
stand erect and raise your heads
because your redemption is at hand.
“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
from carousing and drunkenness
and the anxieties of daily life,
and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.
For that day will assault everyone
who lives on the face of the earth.
Be vigilant at all times
and pray that you have the strength
to escape the tribulations that are imminent
and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Lobora / Work
Some days in a marriage it may seem as if the sea and the waves are already roaring. But rather than flee we must instead come together as a couple and swim through the storm together. This is not a time to “become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life.” We can't let our crazy life and our filled calendars get in the way of a happy marriage. You are called to be each other’s battle buddies, always having each other’s backs. Remember the fight is between the two of you against Satan, not against each other. In a happy marriage we have to remember to be there for one another. Today pray, really truly pray, with deep heartfelt desire for the spiritual strength of your spouse. You each need the other to hold you up in trials and tribulations. Prayer is the best support you can give your spouse. Today really make your prayer for your marriage and your spouse count.
