A Merrier Marriage for Christmas

Week Two - Saturday

Prayer After Communion

Ora / Pray

Replenished by the food of spiritual nourishment, we humbly beseech you, O Lord, that, through our partaking in this mystery, you may teach us to judge wisely the things of earth and hold firm to the things of heaven. Through Christ our Lord.

Labora / Work

By Saturday you probably don’t remember The Prayer After Communion that was prayed on Sunday. But you can end the week with a reminder of it as well as a reminder that the grace of the Eucharist that we received last Sunday is still with us, as long as we haven’t committed a mortal sin. That grace is a gift from God that helps us to use our logic and reason, one of the ways in which we are created in the imago Dei (image of God), to “judge wisely the things of earth and hold firm to the things of Heaven.” This grace can help us determine the value of how we spend our lives. (The subject of Wednesday’s reflection). Look back over the past week. Can you see the times where the grace of God helped you to make a valuable choice for your marriage or family? Or, can you recall times when you were not open to God’s grace and made a decision that might not have been the best for your marriage and family? For the former, thank the Lord and ask for His continual guidance. For the latter, ask the Lord for His forgiveness and for the courage to go to your spouse or family and ask for theirs.
